St. Mary’s Parish will expand its operations after finalizing an $8.5 million property purchase from the Annapolis Area Christian School.
The parish has not yet determined the use for the new property. AACS will continue to operate its middle school from the campus through the 2025-2026 school year, and during that time St. Mary’s pastor, Father Patrick Woods, said he will work with the community to determine how the property will be used.
The lot is more than 9 acres and includes a 40,000-square-foot school building and a soccer field.
Woods said the new property is a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” It sits less than a mile from St. Mary’s St. John Neumann Mission Church, which the parish bought 25 years ago. The parish has its original campus on Duke of Gloucester Street, founded in 1853, which houses St. Mary’s Parish, St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Mary’s High School.
“We’re a growing parish, we’re a growing school. We just need more room,” said Christine Bervid, St. Mary’s communications coordinator.
AACS will move its middle school operations to its upper school campus in Severn for the 2026-27 school year.
