Federal authorities are looking for a man accused of assaulting and robbing a tow truck driver attempting to repossess his Tesla last year in southwest Baltimore.
Lamont Jeremiah Jones, 45, is wanted on charges including armed robbery following an Oct. 29 incident on West Saratoga Street.
According to investigators, Jones confronted a tow truck driver during the repossession attempt.
“Jones reportedly demanded the (tow truck) driver drop his vehicle, and when he refused, an argument ensued,” said Jennifer Mazza, deputy marshal with the U.S. Marshals Service.
According to the statement of charges, investigators said the tow truck driver called 911, and while on the phone with dispatch, Jones pulled the driver out of his truck and snatched his cell phone out of his hand.
The tow truck driver reported to police that Jones then punched him in the face, and brandished a black weapon in his waistband while stating, “You don’t want to die over this sh*t.”
“The victim reported the suspect realized he had called 911. He hung up the call and fled the scene with the victim’s cell phone,” Mazza said.
Officers responded to the scene and ran the Tesla’s tags, which allowed them to identify Jones as the vehicle’s owner. The victim also identified Jones as the man who had assaulted and robbed him, according to the statement of charges.
The Marshals Service reports that Jones has an extensive criminal history, including possession with intent to distribute drugs, assault, robbery and a weapons violation.
Court records also show Jones was on probation at the time following a 2022 conviction in Howard County for being in possession of a firearm with a felony conviction. Records show a judge suspended all but a year and a half of Jones’ 10-year sentence and placed him on three years’ probation following his release.

“It’s pertinent that we apprehend Jones so he can answer to this crime,” said Mazza. “Records show he has a history of committing crimes while armed. He also has a history of violating his probation. For these reasons, we believe it is in the interest of public safety that we locate and apprehend this individual.”
The Marshals Service warns Jones should be considered armed and dangerous, is known to abuse drugs, and has violent tendencies.
He’s described as about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs approximately 230 pounds.
Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the Marshals Service at 202-819-5058.
